Just to let you know - I am on holiday this week (will be back on the 28th September 09) so I will be able to reply to any messages then - regarding book rings etc - :)

Hi, welcome to my bookshelf

Just a few notes to introduce myself, I am a very busy mother of two, I always try and cram as much into my days as possible (usually spent running the kids round to clubs and friends!) I am also a Tawny Owl with a local Brownie group. Most of my reading time is spent in the car waiting for one of the kids, stood leaning against a cupboard in the kitchen while I cook the kids tea or lunchtimes at work, sometimes I am lucky enough to have time to spend an hour in the bath with a good book!

I find it difficult to release books as I am a natural hoarder but I am being ruthless and figure that empty shelves will leave more room for new books. My TBR pile is continually increasing and I stuggle to keep up to date with registering books, although my 2008 resolution is to 'Get Organised' - which is no mean feat!

I buy books from second hand shops and books sales, all the other usual bookshops, car boot sales, library sales, internet (ebay, amazon, etc) and I always have a list handy for birthdays and Christmas. Old books, new books any will do, but if I have a brand new book I have to read it first before I lend it to anyone and I try really hard not to crease the spine.

I love books and can't understand anyone that doesn't - including my eldest daughter, I just can't seem to pass the bug on to her, although my youngest daughter is just like me and reads anything she can get her hands on!

So in short I love books and I am glad to have found a web site full of people as crazy as me!

I am in the process of updating my profile, by adding a wish list, a now reading list and a read list - so watch this space! - I have got very behind with updating my profile - work and kids have taken over, I am determind to get this sorted by the end of the month!!

Completed List January 2008

Ronnie - Ronnie Wood - 8/10 Interesting
The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks - 8/10 Made me cry
Marley and Me - John Grogan - 7/10 Made me laugh and cry
Call Me Elizabeth - Dawn Annandale - 6/10 Enjoyed, but I felt it was missing emotion
Blessings - Anna Quindlen (Library Book) - 7/10 Enjoyed this, I felt sorry for the 3 main characters but glad they had each other

Completed List February 2008

The River - Tricia Wastvedt (Library Book)- 7/10 There were a lot of characters to keep up with but a good read all the same
Undead and Unwed - Mary Janice Davidson - Bookring (Intl) - 7/10 Made me laugh out loud in places
The Butterfly Box - Santa Montefiore - 7/10 A bit of an epic - very Rosamunde Pilcher
Slash - Slash and Anthony Bozza (Borrowed from my brother) - 7/10 A good read, not too easy to follow as he keeps going backwards and forwards in places but an insight just the same - and some lovely photos (in my opinion!)

Completed List March 2008

For One More Day - Mitch Albom (Library Book) - 8/10 I preferred this to Five People you meet in Heaven - quite a thought provoking book.
No Time For Goodbye - Linwood Barclay (Borrowed from my cousin) - 7/10 A different sort of story some twists I didn't see coming although I did part guess 'whodunit'
Northern Lights - Philip Pullman - 7/10 An enjoyable read, although some parts made me cry.
Daughter of the River (An Autobiography) - Hong Ying - 6/10 - Not a very enjoyable read but I felt that I had to read right to the end out of respect for what the 'Little Six' and her family went through during the book - all those rules and regulations to remember!

Books I didn't finish in 2008

Faith Fox - Jane Gardam (Library Book)- Bored me

I am happy to trade any of my available books, I will also lend out any of my TBR books, as long as they make their way back to me at some point. Also just to let you know that I do get some of my books from charity shops, car boot sales and ex-library book sales so some of them might be a bit tattered or 'lived with and loved', but they will have all their pages and be readable!
