Amazon Editorial Review
It all begins with a painting called Guilt. Eve Duncan's daughter, Jane, has no idea why she painted the portrait of the chilling face that now hangs in a Paris gallery. But those who belong to a powerful cult--one that dates back to the time of Christ--know both the face and the significance behind it...
They believe that Jane must die--when the moment is right, and not an instant before she leads them to an ancient treasure whose value and power are beyond price. But for now, they target those close to Jane, killing without mercy or conscience.
From Paris to the Scottish isles to the Holy Land, Jane finds herself in a desperate race against time to unravel the mystery surrounding her painting...and save her own life. Even with Eve's help, can she possibly succeed before her time is up?

Jane has painted a picture called "Guilt". It now hangs in a Paris gallery. A cult believes Jane must die. This is that story.
I haven't decided if I like this new turn in Johansen's stories. I enjoyed the Eve Duncan and Joe Quinn mystery/thrillers. But these new stories all seem to be about Jane, their foster daughter.

Handing to love2cook for her reading pleasure.
Thanks for the book!
Happy reading!
Got this one from Mom who is culling her HUGE TBR pile of books, I will find a new home for it.
This was just an ok read in my opinion. Jane has painted an picture called Guilt and when it is featured in a story about her in the paper she gets some unwanted interest from a bizarre religious cult that wants to make her the special offering at their annual gathering in just 8 more days. Then begins the cat and mouse game of trying to find the group before they grab Jane and exact their punishment.
Some of the book was ok but the ESP, mind control and sex without being in the same room was a little much for me.
Now ready for a new reader.
