Journal Entry 1 by Minerva101 from Calgary, Alberta Canada on Saturday, July 09, 2011
I have another copy of this book registered and travelling in affinity4books Cozy Bookbox. I was really happy when I scooped this copy at library sale today to give to my bookcrossing friend, rureading. Below is my journal entry for the other copy: Don't let the hokey cover or the cheesy synopsis turn you off this book - it's a good one! Probably one of the best cozies I've read. On the front cover is a quote form The Richmond Times Dispatch. It says: "(A) fun series... Don't be fooled by the teddy bear theme. Lamb's mysteries are full-bodied police procedurals."I'm really glad I picked this book up from a library sale - well worth the read :)Book Description from Chapters.caWhen Brad and Ashleigh Lyon re-visit San Francisco, a cutting-edge robot teddy bear is found at a murder scene. Now the bear-making couple must try their crafty hands at fur-ensics.

I read your review of the cover and I thought this was the best combination of title and cover: a great title, The Clockwork Teddy, and a sprawled teddybear in an alley. I'm hooked by the title and a little creeped out by the cover art! Now I'm hoping the story lives up to the cover tease. Looking forward to reading this one. Thanks Minerva101.

A honey of a plot with witty dialogue between the partners and a few puns to 'grin and bear'. I wondered about the odd story combination of detective work and teddy bear crafting until I read the author bio.... Wouldn't mind sinking my claws into another of these books; perfect for a winter's hibernation.

My friend use to make teddy bears and I didn't realize what an art and following they had so found that part of the book interesting. The author uses a lot of police codes and then explains it and that was distracting to me. None the less it was an interesting read but not an author that I would rush out to find more of his books.

What an interesting little mystery. I have to say it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I thought it would be a light fluffy mystery with an amateur sleuth but instead we get a retired detective that ends up in the thick of it. I enjoyed the novel and will have to track down some more books by him.

Totally loved this book. So, that's what a cozy mystery is.... Great blend of mystery and humour - super characters and kept me guessing. A fast read, but so delightful. Thanks for sharing.
