CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Sent in mail today for 2X the Fun RABCK.
Thank you so much for this mystery book, which is from a series I've never heard of, but birds and their watchers should be a fun subject. I find birdwatchers amusing creatures with their various lists of sightings.
Thank you also for everything else I found from the envelope - a neat fridge magnet, pretty cards, sweets, a birdy bookmark and what do you know - BC stickers just as I've used my last one!!
And ON the envelope were all stamps great and small, even royalty was present!

"All birds are like sparrows to me. There are big sparrows, small sparrows and gaily coloured sparrows. But they all look like sparrows. Last summer I realized this was a no-nothing attitude, so I bought two bird books. They were filled with every conceivable kind of sparrow."

Nothing to do with this book, but it's so me. Yet I find birdwatchers interesting. I've just gotten a small puppy, who is the cause of me reading this not very thick book for a whole week. We went out this Saturday morning at five. There was nobody at the park except me and a man with a huge camera standing on legs.
"Morning", I said: "Are you a papparazzi?"
"Just waiting for a bird to appear."
"A rare one?"
"A brown crested eagle-seagull" (or something else fancy sounding I've never even heard of).
It seems so ludicrous - he must have been beeped out of bed because someone had sighted this rarity. I would understand if it was a tortoise he was after, but a bird is there one minute and gone the next and yet these people drag their bones out of bed and rush to the scene.
And now to the book: I find it extraordinary that it says: "First in the new series"; howcome you know it's going to be a series if only one book is written? Aren't they going to see if it sells at all first? Has the writer already written several?
Birdwatching, illegal bird trade, politics, murder, environmentalists... I did guess the murderer early on, it was quite obvious, but won't spoil the plot for future readers.
Not quite Agatha Christie, but I'd like to try another book of the series.
This one will be heading to Myrtillus, as I tagged her on the Finnish wishlist game. Enjoy!

I found the book in my mail box already yesterday. Thank you Kirjakko for the book and the funny story about your new puppy!
I read this book really, really slowly not because of the plot but because I have been so busy and tired. This book is well-written for a debut novel. There are lots of references to birds which will delight readers who also happen to be birders. C Goff has written a good and entertaining mystery and created believable characters and settings. I will certainly read more by this author.
The book is on it's way to Annelis.
Thank you very much for this interesting book and the tasty bears of Pori and the other things, Myrtillus! I remember: when I was young I knew a birdwatcher and we went early in the morning to watch birds a few times. But there came nothing more about it... I still like birds, though.
I learnt many new birdy words from this book. It is another thing for how long I'll remember them. Anyway, I learnt. I would well like to read more books in this series if there are any. Ecoterrorists are still going strong as well as those who destroy our planet.
Now the book will continue ets travels. Enjoy!

Lii5a was kind enough to play the role of a courier and she brought the book tonight to me at the meetup. I haven't read Christine Goff's book before, haven't even heard of her but it does look me kind of mystery. Thank you, annelis!
Not bad for a debut novel, even if it was a bit predictable. The characters were interesting enough, the settings on a Colorado ranch exotic and the world of a bird sanctuary something not so typical for a detective story. I did enjoy reading this even if this not a very memorable book.
Once again, my wish list got shorter! Many thanks, em64!
This was one of the three lightweight paperbacks I carried with me on my two-week hike. One evening I opened it, and just could not put it down (luckily summer nights are white in the northern Finland). I agree, it was a bit predictable but very entertaining. Many thanks!

The book will continue its travel. Hope You'll enjoy this book, Tradeana! :)
Received this book in the mail the other day. Was quite surprised as I had forgotten that I asked for it. I will get it read as soon as I finish the book that I am reading now. Then I plan on giving it to my daughter who is a bird watcher and also a fellow bookcrosser (Wolskicanread).
Thank you, erpax, for remembering that I asked for it.
