Highschool of the Dead, Vol. 1

Purchased at The Comic Shop in Fairbanks, AK.
This is the first volume of a zombie survival series that follows two high school students as they try to escape the walking dead. Nothing really innovative, but I still enjoyed it...even though the school nurse's breasts are so large that I'm surprised she doesn't trip over them.
Mailed to GoryDetails to kick off my Graphic Novel/Manga bookbox.
I chose this book from AKSarah's manga/graphic-novel bookbox, in part because - well, how could I resist a title like that, and in part because I'd read about the series in TV Tropes. Looks like good zombie fun...
Later: It certainly doesn't waste any time - the first page includes a list of weapons, from nail gun to wooden sword, and drops us right into the action. Zombies are attacking the students, who are fighting back, with the growing realization that this may not be a short-term situation.
Then we flash back a bit to the beginning of the problem, a chance to relax and figure out who the main characters are - but not for long. The mayhem picks up again, mixed with efforts by some of the students at preparing for a long-term siege. Lots of action, some humor (and, yes, panty shots) in between the blood-splattering violence - rather fun. "Less talking, more running!!"
[There's an anime version, but I haven't seen it yet.]

I'm adding this book to AKSarah's Bookbox of the Living Dead, which will be on its way to BCer Greyflank in New Jersey soon for its next stop. Hope someone enjoys it!
