This was left on the table at the end of the BookCrossing meet yesterday at Adoretea café in Nicholls, ACT. I took it to release elsewhere, possibly when I take a little car trip south-west.

8/8/2011: I picked up this book because it was left behind at the end of a BookCrossing meet. I intended to wild release it without bothering to read it. But I read the first few pages and the story drew me in. It a great tale. So thank you Beli-jq for the chance to read it.
Everything came nicely together at the final. The only two criticisms I have are that the murderer was not a major player in the story until near the end – and so less likely to be presumed by the reader to be guilty – and the second one (abet a small point) is that it was said that Jane goes to Hong Kong on holidays and runs into James, because “the expatriate community was so small’. There are millions of people in Hong Kong. The chances of meeting a particular person there are close to zilch. I’ve been to Hong Kong pre and after the hand back to China.

I passed this book onto Needle-n-Thread.

The Scold's Bridle by Minette Walters is a rather deep and mysterious story, and not until near the end does one find out who killed Mathilda. There is a lot of jealousy over her money also. It is a good read and I give it 7 out of 10.
