Money, A Memoir: Women, Emotions, and Cash

There are interesting points about women thinking about money and success differently than men, relying on the "inner stewardess" and finding Prince Charming to take care of you. I just didn't feel like there was much more to this book. It could have made a great magazine article, but somehow it was extended to booklength in a way that didn't quite work for me. Chapters did not feel like discreet sections, instead it felt like a long rambling and reiteration of the same story with different names. This book could have been much more effective if specific tools were given to move past the problem. So much time is spent describing the poor ways women think about and deal (or don't deal) with money. Suddenly at the end, the author states she is pretty much over her money issues and you can too! Um, what? It feels out of nowhere. Acknowledging the problem is certainly the first step, but not the only step! If this book is intended to be merely a sociological look at women and money, then fine. There is too little personal story to quite be an effective memoir. There is certainly too little about solutions to be of much service to most women's relationship with money.
I'm getting this one back on its merry way! I've added it to the "Remember the Memoir" bookbox. Happy travels, little book!
Taking this out of the memoir bookbox here: 810-9861750. I'm very excited to read it.
