Received in the mail today! Thanks, VictoriaWagtail, you freakin' ROCK!!!!
Poor Steve. His girlfriend Stacy's vagina is haunted and she persuades him to go inside and explore. What he discovers inside is beyond his imagination. I love this novella, especially the cameo of The Kennedy School in Portland (I dig that place). Mellick's prose is exceptionally descriptive, funny and totally bizarre. I highly recommend this.
Mailed to GoryDetails. Enjoy!
The book arrived today; many thanks! I enjoyed Mellick's reality-game-show/zombie-apocalypse Zombies and Shit, and his wonderfully bizarre take on choose-your-own-path books, Ocean of Lard, so I'm looking forward to this one - even though I'm sure there will be a few scenes that I'd rather not dwell on too closely {grin}.
I love the way Mellick's books tend to have titles that are Exactly What It Says On The Tin - and yet manage to be surprising as well. Funny ("How did a ghost get in there?") and sexy and disturbing and scary, yet not nearly as scary as it should be given the events! [The narrator's style is sufficiently mellow that it tends to de-fuse many of the creepier incidents, but your mileage may vary. For some, this book could be prime nightmare fodder.] An unusual look at relationships, indeed!
I loved the weird "inner landscape", the revelations as to the nature of the, um, residents of the haunted vagina, and the hilarious surprise on page 75 (which I'll leave for the reader to discover). And I liked the conclusion, which also took me by surprise. Great weird bittersweet fun...

The book's on its way to BCer Firegirl in New Mexico, to fill a wish. Enjoy!

Arrived today, thanks so much!!
Ha! What a kick! I usually really like Mellick (though I must admit he's written some stuff I was utterly bored with), and this is a good example of why. A quick, bizzare little romp through a girl's vagina, into another world. (IMO, not the "world of the dead" as some descriptions have noted, however.) Strange but, as usual, told in Mellick's casual voice so that it almost seems not strange somehow. Fun stuff.
My boyfriend and I both read this so it's time to move it on. He came up with a good idea for a place to release it back in the greater DC area, but I've had a request from a good friend to read it first. So it's off to Georgia, then onward to the Galaxy Hut!
