Journal Entry 1 by karendawn from Lafayette, Indiana USA on Monday, September 15, 2003
I missed out on this book in my youth . And such a shame! I would have greatly enjoyed this book then as I did now. From the back cover: The Cuthberts of Green Gables had decided to adopt an orphan--a nice sturdy boy to help Matthew with the farm chores. The orphanage sent a girl instead--a mischievous, talkative redhead who'd be no use at all. She would just have to go back. But the longer Anne was there, the more no one could imagine Green Gables without her.

Journal Entry 4 by alana5 from Camberley, Surrey United Kingdom on Wednesday, November 24, 2004
Having watched the TV series as a child and adult (and cried every time) I thought it was about time I read the book. Lo and behold the book made me cry too and laugh and generally feel content with my lot in life. The best thing is that since reading it, I've discovered that several work colleagues are 'kindred spirits'.
