This was probably one of the better memoirs I have ever read. It was very hard for me to put it down. I found myself thinking, "Who are the "adults" in this family?" The children were, by far, the more responsible ones. In The Glass Castle, we see how alcoholism turns an intelligent and charismatic father into a dishonest and destructive man who takes off for long periods of time, leaving the children in the "non-care" of their eccentric, artsy mother who abhors domestic duties. We also watch as the children of this dysfunctional couple learn to be self sufficient and raise themselves to be successful and prosper.
I am offering this book as a bookring.
Bookring Rules:
1) When you receive the book, please journal it so that the group knows where it has landed.
2) Please take care of the book. Others want to read it and would be disappointed to receive a destroyed book. Take care of it as if it were your own.
3) Plan on keeping the book for no more than 30 days. If you think you might need more time, please make note as a journal entry. If you would like to participate in the ring but know that you can’t read it in the allotted time, I will gladly add you toward the end of the list.
Be considerate to the others in the bookring and do not stall the book.
4) When you’re ready to pass the book along, PM the next person on the list to get their address. Journal again when you've sent it on. Let everyone know what you thought of the book and where you’ve sent it. Set the book’s status code to “traveling”.

Glass Castle is on its way to the first participant, leamhliom. Happy Travels little book. Hope everyone enjoys this tale as much as I did.
Thank you, I received this book safely yesterday. I started the book last night, at page 90. The story is quite distressing, the parents don't seem to be able to care properly for the children at all. There are problems with mental health and alcoholism from the parents. I really hope all four children recover from this poor background. I'll update later on when I've finished this book.
I couldn't put down this book so I have finished it already. Some parts of the book were so sad, especially when the children hadn't enough to eat. I so admired their determination to get to New York when they were finally old enough.
On the way to the next person, alexpanda85 in the UK.

After several attempts to contact alexpanda85, I have had no response, I fear that this copy is "lost". However, a very kind and generous BCer, by the name of ruzena, offered her copy of the book to help continue the bookring. She has already contacted jujuks and we will get things rolling again.
