This book is my first encounter with Leslie Glass, and I quite enjoyed it. Glass' heroine, April Woo, is an NYPD detective, involved with an Italian-American cop, and dealing with being a Chinese woman police officer in a male-dominated world. I found the most interesting relationship, however, to be between April and her mother. The storyline holds up, but is perhaps a slower read than it need be; for my tastes, I'll admit that it's a tad over-explained - too many words for too little information. But, with winter on its way in the Northern Hemisphere (and summer beaches opening up below the Equator), Glass' "A Killing Gift" should be welcome to anyone wanting to curl up on the couch or stretch out on the sand with a readable missive.

Meant to say ... my very first release, and I left it on the front porch of the 9th Street Bed and Breakfast, Saskatoon, in the hopes that it will travel far and be read by many.
