Every summer the noisy city people migrate to the pond on Cape Cod, disrupting the peace of its premanent, isolated community. Dinah grits her teeth until the woods are hers again and she is free to compose without their jarring discords. Willie shrugs and takes on their carpentry jobs to subsidize his real, winter life of sculpting. Only Susan, the pivotal member of their companionable menage a trois, envies the glamour and excitement of these exotic visitors from another, wider world.
And when a series of chances brings the summer world closer to their own, Susan's envy swells to obsession - jolting the delicate balance of all their lives with a tragic crisis that threatens to shatter the harmony for ever.....

Not really my cup of tea but a light easy read that I enjoyed more than I thought I would. I am always grateful for the chance to read books that I think I won't like as sometimes I am surprised. I was with this one as I didn't think I would get half way through but I finished it. I was at a spa for the weekend and read it there.
