SYNOPSIS:
Zoe Baxter has spent ten years trying to have a baby, and finally it looks as though her dream is about to come true - she is seven months pregnant. But a terrible turn of events takes away her baby and breaks apart her marriage to Max. In the aftermath she throws herself into her career as a music therapist. When Vanessa, a guidance counsellor, asks Zoe to work with a suicidal teen, Vanessa and Zoe's relationship moves from business to friendship and then, to Zoe's surprise, blossoms into love.
When Zoe allows herself to start thinking of having a family again, she remembers that she and Max still have frozen embryos they never used. Max, meanwhile, has found peace at the bottom of a bottle, until he is redeemed by an evangelical church where the pastor has vowed to fight the 'homosexual agenda' that threatens traditional family values. This mission becomes personal for Max when Zoe and her partner want permission to raise his unborn child.
Sing You Home is an honest and moving story of contemporary relationships and the consequences of love and desire colliding with science and the law. From tragedy to self-discovery and joy, Zoe, Vanessa and Max will realise the undeniable truth - that you can't choose who you love.

Picoult tackles the issues surrounding same-sex relationship with her sensitive style that has become a trademark of her work. Thoroughly enjoyable, I finished it in 2 days.

Picked this up from the post office at the weekend. I'm actually up to date with my bookrings/rays so this is next on my list.
Yet again, another fantastic book from Jodi Picoult. It took me all my time not to cry a certain points (but then I was on the bus so I managed). The twists and turns in the story keep you wanting to read more. I thought I was going to be disappointed in the ending, there just didn't seem to be enough pages left to finish off the story but I'm pleased to say that wasn't the case, it was rounded off beautifully. There was a paragraph that really struck me so I'm going to do something I don't often do and quote it:-
"I remember my mother telling me that, when she was a little girl in Catholic school, the nuns used to hit her left hand every time she wrote with it. Nowadays, if a teacher did that, she'd probably be arrested for child abuse. The optimist in me wants to believe sexuality will eventually become like handwriting: there's no right way and wrong way to do it. We're all just wired differently.
It's also worth noting that, when you meet someone, you never bother to ask if he's right- or left-handed.
After all: Does it really matter to anyone other than the person holding the pen?"

On it's way to the next person in the ray.
Received this book in the post yesterday, it was like a graduation surprise; as I graduated yesterday :o) Looking forward to reading this book as I enjoy Jodi Picoult books and the subject matter is intriguing. Thanks for sharing this book as a ring and sending out.
I finished this book late last night, as once I got past a certain point, I just wanted to see how it ended =P I enjoyed this book and the contrasting thoughts of the two "sides" of the story were interesting to read. I like Jodi Picoult's writing style and this one didn't affect my liking for her books, although it wasn't one of my favourites. Recommended to Jodi Picoult fans but I wouldn't reread.
Have the next participant's address so this book will be in the post after the weekend.

Finished this one today and just loved it! I have read only few books from Jodi Picoult and already she is one of my favorite authors. As a mother of a newborn it was really difficult for me to read some parts of the book without crying, I can't remember when I have felt so strongly while reading a book! What a warm, well-told story. I definitely will buy this into my PC.
Will be off for the next reader soon!

The author is very good at writing. It was a nice reading with twists. I didn't imagine this very ending, too fairy tale for my taste.
Thanks for sharing.

wow, I've just received this, thank you, I have a few bookrings/rays at the moment and I have exams this week and next week, may be a while until I can get around to it, but I'm doing my best and will get around to it as soon as I possibly can, I really hope I don't hold up this bookring, but we'll see
was asked to read this before my other bookrings/rays as it's unfair on the book to be held up anymore, and I totally understand why.
Read this book in 5 days, and as Jodi Picoult always does, she grabs my attention until I can't let go. In my opinion this book is the best one I've read from her. She splits her audience between religious views and same-sex relationships. And I beg to quetion that if I were Christian, would I have sided with Pastor Clive more than I would've with Zoe and Vanessa? Or was it Jodi Picoult's intention to make all her readers aware of what people in same-sex relationships have to go through? (Sorry the English student in me definitely came out during this book).
I love the idea that this is very controversial, and I was eager to work out how it ended, as Jodi Picoult would have to have done it the perfect way, otherwise people would have been annoyed no matter what side they're on. I do have to agree that it is quite a fairytale ending, but with a little bit of a shock, but I totally understand why Jodi Picoult decided to do it that way.
Some of the paragraphs just blew me away, it was definitely written just the way you want it to, and it kind of captures you when you least expect it.
I am a bit on the upset side that 3 of the secondary characters don't wind up at the end and leaves you wondering what actually happened to them, I won't mention names but yeah... WAIT actually there's 4 people, I totally missed that person out. But I do like how it ended.
I'd like to thank you for including me into this bookring, and I know now that Jodi Picoult is one of my favourite authors and I can't wait to explore more of her novels (this is now my 4th book I've read from her). And I shall send on in a couple of weeks time :)

I finished this book today despite having otther things I should have spent my time on.
As always Jodi Picoult makes you see many sides to an issue. I knew how the book wouldd end before I got to the end but wasn't quite sure how it would get there.
I really enjoy and will be sending on to the next participant.

Received as part of a ring, just in time, as I just finished my current book.
This was another good story by Jodi Picoult. There isn't anything to add to what has already been said. Will mail off tomorrow.
Will mail out tomorrow to the next person on the ring.
Arrived in the mail yesterday. I am looking forward to reading this book. Picoult is one of my favorite authors. I will start reading in the next couple of days.
Another thought provoking book by Picoult. She tackles current issues showing all sides. It makes the reader empathize with the characters and often leaves you questioning your own opinions. Many times things aren't as black and white as they seem.
I have no more to add about this book that hasn't already been said by the previous journalers.
