Strawberry Shortcake Murder (Hannah Swensen Mysteries)
4 journalers for this copy...
Harland Flour has chosen Lake Eden, Minnesota, as the site for their first annual Dessert Bake-Off. What could be better -- until one of the judge's is found facedown in the strawberry shortcake?!
A friend at work had a stack of mysteries to share and this looked like a fun read.

This was a nicely crafted little murder mystery with an engaging heroine and some great supporting characters. Oh -- and recipes to make you gain weight. The only thing that made this book hard for me to read was all the discussion of cookies and desserts, since I am on a reduced-calorie-meal-plan. Hannah goes a bit too far in some of her efforts, but the plot is well done and the amateur detective thing is not stretched too far. I figured out whodunit before she did, but not too early, and the clues and investigation aspect were handled well. I would read others in this series.
I pulled this one off of TBR because I signed up for a food-themed book box and thought this would be a fun addition.

"A book is a mysterious object, I said, and once it floats out into the world, anything can happen. All kinds of mischief can be caused, and there's not a damned thing you can do about it. For better or worse, it's completely out of your control." -- Paul Auster

rabck food bookbox; cozy mystery. Second in the series, but can be read as stand-alone. Hannah owns The Cookie Shop and is a judge for the Dessert Bake-Off, but when she finds a judge, dead, face-down in her Strawberry Shortcake, she's starts tallying up the suspects. She enlists her sister into investigating with her with interesting findings about folks in the town.
Likely moving along in a book ring.

If you aren't familiar with Bookcrossing, take a few minutes to check out this very cool site. Bookcrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a journal entry -- you can say where you found the book or how you liked it when you read it. Then, when you are ready, pass it along for someone else to enjoy! Thanks and happy reading!

I chose this book from the package of two that constituted my surprise in the bookring ABC books by authors beginning with F. I like cozy mysteries, so it was a nice catch for me! Many thanks to whomever placed it in!
