Captain Corelli's Mandolin

really enjoyed this book. it's on the "1001 books to read before you die" list, and often I don't like the books on that list, but this one was very interesting and well written. Not a page turner, but sometimes I enjoy the "slower" books even more than the page turners.

Thank you so much for this wish granting RABCK! It is both on 'The Top 100 Books' (2003) & The Whitcouls Top 100 (2010) Lists which I am trying to read my way through (see my extended profile for full details). I can't wait to read it. Plan to read and release.
Wow! What a story. For the most part I was totally engrossed in the story. I thought the characters had real depth and were quite believable. The setting and descriptions of living under occupation, being in the army and resistance were most fascinating and thought provoking. A few times I felt the book becam a little tedious and over descriptive. But over all, still - wow!
Random thought (that I need to look up)... Is this island a read place that went through the events described in the book? Because the author was regularly mentioning facts and figures. So I wondered if the story was placed into read events? I was desperate to peek whilst reading, but restrained myself.

Finally getting this one on the move! It's sneaking its way over to the USA with a BookRay book...
Happy reading!
Happy reading!
Shahrun included this in a book ray she sent to me. What a wonderful surprise! Thank you so much for sharing it with me. Also, thank you for the post card of St. Paul's cathedral. 😀
