CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Adding to the Remember the Memoir bookbox. Enjoy!
I read this years ago (on an early BC bookring, I believe), but may reread it before sending it out again in my upcoming "Bookish Books" bookbox. Thanks, Wildflower37!
I read this book 7 years ago on an early BC bookring. When I found this copy recently in the Remember the Memoir bookbox, I knew I wanted to read it again (before adding it to my own Bookish Books bookbox).
I think it really stood up to the reread this many years later, since I believe I'm rather a different reader now. I've always loved reading, but BC's made me more voracious than ever ;)
I agreed with Nelson when she discusses reading 2 very different books at the same time. Her companions were Her by Laura Zigman (a new hardcover, ideal for keeping to read at home) and Nine Parts of Desire by Geraldine Brooks (a handy paperback book of essays, ideal for toting around). I've learned to often read 2 books at the same time. I feel it does increase the number of books I'm able to get thru (from my TBR mountain range). I often pair a fiction with a non-fiction, or at least 2 very different genres which I can't easily mix up the storylines.
And I loved this bit about her reading slump: "When things go right in my life, I read. When things go wrong, I read more. Frustrated with work, bored with my marriage, annoyed at my kid or my friends, I escape into books." Sounds good to me ;)
This book will be going out in my Bookish Books bookbox in a couple of months. Hope the next reader enjoys it as much as I did, whether it's the first read or a reread. Thanks Wildflower37!

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
released in the magazine rack on the floor
I was needing to kill some time this afternoon and was hanging out in my local Starbucks. I found this book, the word "FREE" inscribed across the top caught my attention. Since I am an avid reader, or I like to think of myself as one, starting my second "year of reading" challenge, I couldn't pass it up. The time at Starbucks flew as I neglected my drink and devoured the first four chapters!
I really enjoyed this book, and although Sara Nelson and I come from different walks of life, I found that we could agree on our love of books! She also made me feel better about my multi-book habit by her chapter on Double Booking. I am preparing to pass this book on a reader friend of mine.
"While we rarely admit it, what we read speaks, well, volumes about us... but the truth is, a book can be a good conversation (and relationship) starter... People notice what you read, and judge you by it"
