"In the spring of 1967 a twenty-year-old Adam Walker, an aspiring poet and student at Columbia University meets the enigmatic Frenchman Rudolf Born, and his silent and seductive girlfriend Margot. Before long, Walker finds himself caught in a perverse triangle that leads to a sudden, shocking act of violence that will alter the course of his life."

..........and back to me
Good news- the book was delivered today to Sofia. :-)) I shall try to find time to read it and send it to travel.
Quite gripping and absorbing read, especially in the first half of the book. The story slightly disintegrates in the second half with the change of narrator and telling the story through Walker`s manuscripts. I also found the political side of Born`s character a bit obscure at the ending. Otherwise I enjoyed it as most of Auster`s novels:-)).
Sent to Alynia.
I found this book on my doormat today. Exiting, my first international ring!
While the book was gripping enough to keep me reading it, I didn't really get into the story. It's a nice book, but nothing more than that.
Sent Lilyklip a message to send it on.

Loved it. Probably one of the best Paul Auster I have read.
Thank you for sharing it!

Traveling to Belgium tomorrow.
Journal Entry 9 by Tubereader at Bruxelles / Brussel, Bruxelles / Brussel Belgium on Wednesday, August 31, 2011
The book arrived safely (although might have gone on holidays in the meantime as almost a month to arrive from Germany to Belgium is quite some time... ;-) ).
Anyhow, it is here now, I am more than half way done with the book that I am currently reading so hope to start with this one within a week or so at the outmost. Will update the JE when I do so.
Thanks bookmaniac70 (and bestfriends!) for sharing and LilyKlip for sending it to me!
20th SEPTEMBER UPDATE: it is taking me an awfully long time to read the book that I am currently reading, but I have decided to start this one in parallel. So far I have read 50 pages, so it looks like this one will be faster than the other one :-)

I have just finished reading the book. It was a real page turner for me. I found the changing in narrators through the story as a very interesting way of writing it. I think I do not fully understand the last part of the book or why it is called invisible, but I have enjoyed reading it.
I have PMed rodespringbal for their address and post ASAP!

the first 50 pages went well, and then... I got bored. It didn't get along so easy as the rest of the book.
A shame...
going to the next reader, hope she will love it more!
Recieved a message from Danielle23 she wants to be skipped so I will email the next on the list.

Sorry for the delay: received this book already in december 2011 and simply did not find the time to read it (and then forgot). Will send it to the next on the list a.s.a.p.
Arrived in Athens. Thanks bookmaniac70 for including me in the ring, and biblioknoef for posting the book to me.

The book arrived safely yesterday. Thank you bookmaniac70 for sharing and Agrace for sending!
I finished the book yesterday. And what a book it was! It's so hard to put my thoughts down. On the one hand, the story -simple, strange, almost absurd, disturbing at times, too much left unexplained on purpose. On the other hand, the writing! It is the increadible writing that makes this weird story so gripping. I also found the "play" with narrative voices such an intresting and clever comment on storytelling and writing in general. Seldom do I find myself so confused but also impressed when I finish a book. I can't decide how much I liked it in the end but I'm really glad I read it.
Thank you very much bookmaniac70 for including me in the ray!

"The book belongs to you. You should hold on to it, as a keepsake from your summer of struggle.
But I don’t want it either. Just looking at it makes me ill.
What should we do with it then?
I don’t know. Give it to someone else.
We’re in France, remember? What French person in his right mind would be interested in a bad English translation of an impenetrable Greek poem?
Good point. Why don’t we just throw it away?
Too harsh. Books should be treated with respect, even the ones that make us ill.
Then we’ll leave it behind. Right here on this bench. An anonymous gift to an unknown stranger.
Perfect. And once we pay the bill and walk out of this café, we’ll never talk about Lycophron again."
p. 215-216
Minor incident in the story. Big smile for a bookcrosser :-)
The book is on its way to Norway. Safe travels!

Oh, I'm sorry, I have forgotten to journal the book! It arrived safely some time ago. I look forward to read it, as I long have wished to read this author.
What a strange book!
I agree in most everything Merolia has written about the book: " I finished the book yesterday. And what a book it was! It's so hard to put my thoughts down. After reading the first part and starting with part two, I got the feeling the author played a joke with me, doing the same in his book/writing that he is telling us the characters in the book does. After reading the book I think the title refers to the author beeing the Invisible man. But what did really happend? We will never know.
I think I will need some time to relax before I read a new book by Paul Auster!

The book is with me noe. I love Paul Auster's work, and I have to admit that I was rather starstruck when I met him ( and his wife, Siri Hustvedt) last year.
I look forward to yet another of his books.
I look forward to yet another of his books.
Yet another wonderful read by Auster.
Gripping story. I really wanted to know what happened to Adam Walker, but did I get my answers?

Given to my sister whilst visiting at the end of our summer holidays.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.
The book is safe by me, as my sister I always look forward to a Paul Auster read:-)
Took me awhile to get started on this book. I enjoyed the story and the way Auster is telling it. There are always changes in the story I didnt expect, very clever written.
Given to a colleague - enjoy the book!
