I have not read this cover to cover but have just read the chapters that caught my interest. A found the chapters covering the impact of the Crimean War and its aftermath of most interest as that was new to me. It appears to be of a high academic standard but remains fairly easy to read and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in the history of the area. Now reserved for ancient-welly.
