Thank you sooooo much, Ian, for this wishlist book! It arrived today, safe and sound.
Already reading Of Mice and Men, so it shouldn't take long for it leave for Ireland. :)

The older I get, the more I'm terrified and at the same time amused by human nature, and the way in which we, humankind, seem to be going in circles. This book gives a great portrait of the beast withi, which seems to be again growing stronger these crazy days. The essay at the end of the book, an essay from the 1960s, is still spot on today, which only testifies to the accuracy of the insight into human nature.

It took me a while to get into the book at first, as I had trouble keeping up with the many boys' names, but once I got the main characters straight in my head it was smooth sailing. Enjoyed the book a lot.

Loaning it to my sister next, and then it'll get to travel.
