Received it from Jamie as a book ray/ring. My very first book caught. I'm almost finished and will end it on to starbytes in a few days.
It's been an exciting read to see how one small provincial governer with noble ancestors can prevail against the might of the Pharoah.

I like stories of dynastic struggles set in ancient times. This book has it all and leaves you longing for the next book at the last page. Character development could be better, though.

Sent the book to Starbytes today .Enjoy!!

Received the book today! Thanks, monast! Will read and journal soon!

Update 24th December 2003: I had the hardest time reading this book. It was really slow moving for me and I had to force myself to plod along each page. Ironically, I finally decided to give it up after having only a few more pages to finish. I really don't know why I didn't like it so much. The storyline itself was fine, I think it was more the way the author wrote the scenes. I don't feel pulled into the story, and I don't feel as if the story was urgent or immediate. I just couldn't get into it. I'll be skipping the next two books, so I'll let both monast and witchie know.

Will mail this book to witchie soon.

I finished at last (sorry for taking so long...)!! It was a great book, about one of my favourite subjects: Ancient Egypt. It is full of life and mistery, and love and war... Every key ingredient for a good novel! Can't wait to read the other two! Got to know how the story ends!!
Thanks, jamieh2003, for the chance to read it! And sorry for keeping it for such a long time!

I really enjoyed reading the book. At the beginning it was hard to remember all those difficult names, but after I got used to them the story gripped me and kept me reading.

I am looking forward to the next part of the story.

As soon as I get the adress from Nitro the book is on it's way.

Thanks for the bookring Jamieh2003.

I've always enjoyed Egyptology, but have never read many novels about it before BC. I'm so glad I discovered this series. I'm really enjoying this book, but it seems to be taking longer to read than I expected. I am about half finished, and should be sending this on to Shaunesay around Thanksgiving, if not before. I'll update here later.

11/19/04 - Last half of book seemed to go much quicker. Don't know if it was cause I finally got into the story, or because I finally knew who all the characters were - listing in front of book definitely helps. Book ending is a good build-up to next book. Looking forward to it.
This will be sent out to Shaunesay tomorrow, Saturday 11/20.

Just received! Will journal again when I've finished and pass along to cattail! It's funny that all three of the bookrings that I have currently are Egyptian themed, and I joined all of them at different times!

Thanks for the ring jamieh2003!

I finished this one last night. Really liked it! But then, I am an Egyptian fan, so are we really surprised! I felt so bad for Seqenenra, and really wanted to slap Si-Amun around. I'm interested to see how things turn out for Kamose, it seems like he's up against such incredible odds. the fact that he's even still going to try just boggles the imagination, I can't imagine facing that situation for real and going through with it.

Thanks so much for this ring jamieh2003! Looks like the second book is taking the scenic route, so I may have to find the rest of these on my own, as i'm definitely interested in finishing the story!

Will be moving along to cattail in a few days. Thanks again!

Oops! Just noticed that I never journaled the book when I first
received it! I guess I must have PM'd shaunesay directly to let her know,
which says volumes about my inexperience with bookrings/rays! :(
