Hmm.. must admit that I am a bit dissapointed in "The Murder Book" by Jonathan Kellerman, of whom I am otherwise a (somewhat) great fan.. For some reason this book never really got to me; I found the plot superficial, and the way that Kellerman switches the narrative from person to person just isn't really working. Also, I feel that there are too many stories going on at once - it all becomes "unbelievable", which is actually a shame..

So - if you only read a few books a year, my recommendation to you would be to LEAVE this book and choose something else instead, but if not.. it can be read ;o)

As an appetizer, the text from the book cover, which goes like this:
In seventeen international bestsellers, Jonathan Kellerman has distinguished himself as the master of the psychological thriller. Now, in Kellerman's most powerful novel yet, LA psychologist-detective Alex Delaware confronts a long-unsolved murder of unspeakable brutality - an ice-cold case whose resolution threatens his survival, and that of longtime friend, homicide detective Milo Sturgis.

The nightmare begins when Alex receives an envelope wrapped in coarse blue paper, with no return address. Inside is a ringbinder with gold letters on it - THE MURDER BOOK. The album is full of macabre pictures of murders, taken at the scene of the crime, with brief descriptions of how, and why, the victims died. But only one picture is marked 'Not solved' - the horrifically mutilated body of a young woman dumped in a ditch. Unsettled, Alex calls Milo, who seems strangely familiar with the case. How is Milo connected to it, and could the gruesome collection be the work of a police insider? If so, why has it been sent to Alex - and by whom?

He he, Majosim and I went on a little book-hunt and rescued two books this afternoon. This one looks like a really scary book, but judging by MaiSpritt's review, I'm not sure, I want to waste my precious reading time on it. I'll think about what to do with it - I might know somebody who'd like to read it. Otherwise I'll re-release it somewhere. Thanks MaiSpritt for joining the BookCrossing fun!

I really don´t know what I think of this one... I've been thinking about it for a couple of days and still don't know. Here's my thoughts however... The scenary is very intriging - a murder book and a convincing look in a police world, however the charecters and somewhat the plot seems ...well sort of flat, just like a surface. I would like to read another of his novells after reading Maispritts flattering review of his other books. I will release this one as soon as possible..
