Nice story about Carrie before Sex and the City.
Carrie is going to take a time out of my bookshelf and wants to travel the world as a bookring. The shipping order will be:

I just sent the book to its first destination in the Netherlands.
The book is here. I have just recently finished season 1 of Sex and the City, so this one is coming right on time. I hope the book catches the same tone as the series.
Just finished this book this morning. It was an Okay-read. Not exactly the same tone as Sex and the City, but considering the fact that Carrie here is still in her highschool years, that's not so strange.

I liked the book, but it didn't remind me of SATC at all. It's just a book about high school, i don't reconize Carrie from SATC in the character. Will send it to Anouk02 as soon as possible.

Received it in the mail today. Have one book ahead of it to read and then will get started on it :)
I really enjoyed this novel. I couldn't put it down after I stopped. One of the few books that has made me read the whole thing in one sitting. I do see the character of Carrie from the TV series in this novel. Those who say they don't must be reading something different... I will PM the next person now.

Yesterday there was letter from B-post in my mailbox. Explaining that they thought they had a postpack for me. Now normally you get a card that there is something waiting for you in the postoffice, this time it was a real letter.
I went to the postoffice today and they showed me the cover of the postpack, all riped apart, stamps from all over Belgium... Most likely they made a mistake in the headoffice in Brussels and where sending it to an other town with the almost the same name as where I live. Ofcourse that street doesn't exist in that town and so it was always going back from and to the headoffice in Brussels. And now finally somebody realised that they were wrong. So a little xmas miracle here :) He is now safe with me :) will read it as soon as possible and will go back on a journey.

The life and loves of Carrie Bradshaw before the 'Sex and the City' years. I should admit now, since it will probably soon become obvious, that I was only briefly acquainted with 'Sex and the City', since there were only a couple of years during which two vital conditions were fulfilled: a) my having a telly; and b) the show being on it. Consequently, I only occasionally remembered that I was reading the prequel to 'Sex and the City'; most of the time it just felt like a common or garden high school novel. The fact that in my head Sarah Jessica Parker sprung into being fully formed at the age of about 35 isn't really helping, either.
None of which is intended to say that I didn't enjoy this. I did. It was a very readable piece of teen fiction - often amusing, sometimes profound, and only occasionally didactic. In fact, it worked beautifully as a standalone novel, with one glorious nod to the future. (I'll be honest: I saw it coming - or something like it coming, anyway - but that doesn't make it any less glorious, damn it!)

Recently my sister developed an interest in SatC (okay, it was because we watched the movie together; she didn't know the TV show). So she bought the two Carrie Diaries and recently started reading part one (in German though). So that was the perfect moment for me to read this English version, so I could read along with her and talk about what's happening in the text. I'm glad it came that way, so it didn't have to stay on my Mt.TBR too long.
I really, really enjoyed this. I was constantly picturing a young version of Sarah Jessica Parker as Carrie. And this book is much, much better than the original 'Sex and the City' (book, not TV show or movies). It was easy to read and there were some really nice expressions and thoughts in it.
I'll probably offer it as a RABCK as well. Thanks again for sharing, C_!

I offered it several times in the German forum - no-one wanted it. Now I'm simply sending it to another crosser in Germany as a surprise. We were in touch because of a Janet Evanovich novel, so hopefully she likes other kinds of chicklit, too.

I was very surprised when I got the envelope at the post office. Unfortunately I'm not really a fan of chicklit. But I loved to watch "Sex and the City" on TV, so I will give this book a try.
