Extraordinary account of climbing Mt Everest with a guided adventure team in 1996, which lost 5 people in the "summitting". The author takes you into the story, so you feel that you are climbing alongside him, feeling what he is. The book leaves a lot unanswered for the reader - is climbing Mt Everest with guides too "easy", and getting too popular, to the detriment of human life on the mountain?

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Mailed on in the "I Need A Vacation" Bookbox.
Tracking Number: 1ZE093Y80344355967

This is the largest and most expensive box I have ever dealt with. It weighed 31.70 lbs, and had to be packaged in a 18 x 12 x 10 inch box. The total cost was $30.72. I learned a valuable lesson about participating in bookboxes. From now on I will only participate in boxes which have weight limits and shipping specifications identified up front. Part of the delay was having enough money to ship the books. Many great titles though! Have fun reading and perusing them.

I was about to mail off the bookbox and then pulled this one out for my son. He's recuperating from shoulder surgery and has lots of time to read, so thought he might enjoy this book. I did when I read it years ago.

I took this from mrsjones as she did not give it to her son to read yet. mrsjones or myself will be releasing it soon.
This was a great book and, even though it was tragic, still made me think about climbing Mt Everest. I have always wanted to do so. I just do not have the funds or guts to do it. As usual, an excellent book by Krakauer.

I took out the other Krakauer book and added this one in its place. He's such a great writer and really transports you to the places he writes about. Enjoy!
