I found this somewhat-battered little paperback among the charity-sale books at a local Hannaford's. I like the Penguin 60s series for its small-format (suitable for geocaching) as well as its little samples of classic works.

This book contains an excerpt from the Rieu translation of the Argonautica, and includes the gathering of the crew (which consisted of all manner of heroes and mighty men, many of them the offspring of gods; they get short shrift in most dramatic adaptations) and the initial few adventures.

Jason and the Argonauts (extract) by Apollonius of Rhodes - Good

This was a Penguin 60s classic, so only an extract of the full book. It's the prose of the opening verses detailing the start of the quest. If you like greek classics (I do, I've read the Illiad and Odyssey, plus the Latin classic The Aeneid... the latter in Latin a looooong time ago), then you'll love this. If not, then avoid.
