A review of the Dutch version I read:
A colleague of mine recommended this book. She liked it a lot and said I HAD to read it. So, now I'm trying.
I found, in retrospect, the emphasis on the MUST a bit exaggerated. Yes, it's a thriller, a good book. Nesbø got me with his plausible suspects on the wrong track time and again.
But towards the end I found that it's enough. I did not need more twists, yet another outcome than where the book seems to be going to, now and then that felt artificial.

And, whether it says something about my memory or the impression that the book has made on me (or both :-)): I do not really remember who did it ...
The big story has stuck, a number of suspects and twists as well, but then I pulled out apparently.

It does look like an exciting read. Thanks Bjorg for posting and Totje2 for sharing this book. Cheers! :)

The last time I held a book this thick, it took me about half a year to finish reading it. But then again, that wasn’t really the genre I would usually lose sleep over. So I guess, reading this particular book within a single week ain’t really all that impressive to begin with. That’s just what any good detective novel does to anyone, right?

The moment this book touched my hand, I knew I was in for an exciting ride, if the stamp saying “The next Stieg Larsson” blatantly displayed on its cover is any indication. I have tremendously missed reading this type of novel, and maybe that also accounted for how I would rather read ten chapters than eat my dinner, or take a much needed power nap for that matter. And I must say, it was definitely time well-spent—or well-missed, depending on how you look at it.

This novel showed all too well how deceptive appearances can be. That allies may actually be villains in disguise and those presumed villains may actually be unlikely saints. The story was phased so fittingly as to make any reader alternately suspect everybody and nobody in particular.

Definitely one of the best books I’ve read this year. Thank you very much for sharing. ^-^

Very well written thriller. I find some similarity between Harry Hole and Ian Rankin's Inspector Rebus, which is a favourite of mine.

I guess since it's a bookray, it's up to me to decide where the book is going next.

A good read, got more exciting towards the end. Would certainly like to read more by Nesbo but not quite 'the next Stig Larsson' as declared on the cover!

I won a Jo Nesbo book in a book swap game - well actually I stole it, but that's another story! Anyway, I enjoyed that book enough to want to read more. I'm not sure if JN is really the next Stig Larsson because I am one of the few people that haven't read any SL!

Thanks for sending this Cassiopaeia. Adding it to mount toobie!
