This is classic Grisham.
The tight plot and well crafted characters make this a very enjoyable law thriller, probably one of the best books I've read from the author (A Time To Kill and The Chamber still rank way up there but this one comes in an easy 3rd).
Loved the way the author describes the inner workings of a law firm (especially the bill! bill! bill! theorem)
The way the story develops allows for the reader to wade in deeper and deeper until he's totally embedded in the plot and knows more about money laundry than he ever thought.
The film does the book no justice at all, so even if you've seen it the reading of the book is very rewarding.
A good read.

Edit:
Here's my comment on the book, in Portuguese: http://naomeapeteceestudar.blogspot.pt/2015/01/the-firm.html
In general I felt it was too descriptive and "movie-like". The only part that captivated me was the last. I was very sorry for the dog...
