An old man is found murdered in his Reykjavik flat. The only clues around him are an odd note and a photograph of a young girl's grave. Inspector Erlendur discovers that many years ago this man was accused of, but never convicted, of a rape. Did the man's past start to haunt him? As Erlendur investigates the murder, he also opens a cold case, and the forensic evidence starts to build to something much bigger than just the murder of one old man.

An enjoyable Icelandic thriller. Probably the first book by an Icelandic author I've read...

"Don't ever apologize to an author for buying something in paperback, or taking it out from a library (that's what they're there for. Use your library). Don't apologize to this author for buying books second hand, or getting them from bookcrossing or borrowing a friend's copy. What's important to me is that people read the books and enjoy them, and that, at some point in there, the book was bought by someone. And that people who like things, tell other people. The most important thing is that people read... "

Man am I sorry I waited so long to read this one, I really enjoyed it! The story takes place in Iceland and involves a man found murdered and during the investigation a photo was found of a grave of a young girl. How does this figure into the case and just who is this girl? Don't want to say too much and give away the story.

This is the 1st book I have read by this author but really enjoyed it, so much in fact I added more by this author to my wishlist.

This book is heading out as a selection from the Mystery VBB
