'The Miami Dade Crime Lab is called in to examine the body of a young woman who has washed ashore on an island in Florida Bay. Lieutenant Horatio Caine is quick to identify the probable murder weapon: a shark dart used by the Navy as part of an experimental program to kill enemy divers. However, during the autopsy, Doctor Alexx Woods finds the true cause of death was drowning; the dart was used postmortem. When another mangled body of a woman is discovered, Caine begins to suspect the worst. The unusual and violent nature of the crimes bears all the hallmarks of an organized serial killer - serial predation, a great deal of preparation and a disturbingly distored worldview. Now, the lieutenant and his team must race to piece together all the clues to stop the murderer before they can strike again.' Bought for £2 in Huntingdon#s 'British Heart Foundation' branch on Friday 4th March. Once I've read this one, I'll offer it to our dance teacher, Hoc, who is a fan on the series and the books.

One thing you can say about the CSI series is that at least the forensic scientists don't have time to get bored... The team investigate when the mutilated body of a young woman is found trapped in mangroves on a small island off the coast of Miami. Lt. Caine (the palest man in Florida) and team at first think she has been attacked and killed by dolphins, and make the working acquaintance of a Russian scientist who once trained the animals for military purposes, but now tries to rehabilitate the trained animals to be released back into the wild. One slight problem is that she lost both legs in a shark attack some time ago and relies on a custom wheelchair and hybrid prothesis to move around on land and sea respectively. Still, she has an iron will - could she have done this? In the meantime, a vintage car is found by weekend divers, but it still has a passenger inside it. Evidence from this victim ups the anti, with proof of sexual and physical assualt, and more confusingly, evidence that would appear the assualts took place under water. With the random evidence of a witness who claims to have escaped a similar fate at the hands/claws of a movie monster, the team have their hands full. The team investigates leads that take them our of the experience: the fetish world, the animal liberation obsessive, the movie addicted, and the trail to find their killer is a long and winding one. I enjoyed this CSI: Miami novel so give it an 8/10 score. I've already posted it to Vamperstein8782 in Suffolk and when she has done with it, she'll pass it on to our dance teacher, Hoc, who love a good CSI novel fix :)

Ooops! Sorry I could've sworn I'd journal the arrival of this! Consider my wrists well and truly slapped. Now on to the book review; sadly I really didn't like this for the most part. Don't get me wrong, there were good bits (mostly in the 2nd half and coming across almost as if there had actually been two people writing this book) but for me they were outweighed by the constant this person said, that person said writing style which just really gets my goat - honestly, I have a limited grasp of the English language at the best of times and even I can find a couple more attributives to describe people talking to each other. And as for getting BOLO wrong... well, let's just say I've read better written fanfic and leave it at that shall we? Will drop this back with AgnesXNitt for facilitation of its onward travel to another friend.
