An intresting conceit, having a dog as your narrator and a philosophic dog at that. The dog is prepared to come back for his next life as a human, to get his opposable thumbs. Their are some poignant moments but over all I did not think the POV worked and left the human characters flat and cliched.

Good story about a man (Denny) and his dog (Enzo). Lots of difficult/sad elements to the storyline. I'm not into auto racing and that is another major theme of the book, but still glad I read it. The aspect of reincarnation (dog to man) was clever and will no doubt warm the hearts of dog lovers. Thanks, KenJ, for sharing this book.
