Synopsis
Adjoa Andoh reads this thrilling story of a stranded spaceship, a troubled village and a chilling prophecy. A vast starship, seemingly deserted, is spinning slowly in the void of deep space. Martha and the Doctor explore this drifting tomb and discover that they may not be alone after all. Who survived the disaster that overcame the rest of the crew? What continues to power the vessel? And why has a stretch of wooded countryside suddenly appeared in the middle of the craft? As the Doctor and Martha journey through the forest, they find a mysterious, fog-bound village - a village traumatised by missing children and prophecies of its own destruction...
This title features the Doctor and Martha, as played by David Tennant and Freema Agyeman in the hit series from BBC Television.
Andjoa Andoh plays Francine Jones, Martha's mother.

At first I thought: Oh, creepy! And it remembered me a lot of "Silence in the Library", which I didn't like very much. But, by the beginning of CD 2 at the latest, I finally realized it's fairly different from the library and began enjoying the story.
I liked Andjoa Andoh as narrator right away, liked her a lot more than in her role as Martha's mother actually ;-) and I think she does a gorgeous Martha, but her Doctor didn't satisfy me completely.

A great story and a perfect reader to it.
I don't want to write more about the plot - don't want to spoil anything. Just so much, a fantastic turn in the end.

And another Doctor Who story I enjoyed, although not quite as much as "Sick Building". It didn't in the least remind me of "Silence in the library" ;-), but in the beginning a bit of "The girl in the fireplace". And the whole story had a Star-Trekish feeling about it, I think.

Wow! So viel Doctor Who! :) Da muss ich mich ja gleich in den Hausputz stürzen oder an die Bügelwäsche machen. *g* Mit dem Doctor geht das nämlich alles viel leichter!

Vielen Dank für den Ring und fürs Schicken!!

Sorry, I'm a bit in hurry, so I won't write much... I liked this story very much although I think the idea of - hm, how can I describe it without spoilering? - that exchange really creepy.

Nice little two disc story of Martha and the Doctor. Presumably in our future (since at the moment we don´t have any prisoner-spaceships). Well this audiobook has not even lasted until lunch (yes ok, LATE lunch) was cooked and ready to eat. I only managed to peg my washing out, to clear the dish washer and fill it up again, clean the exhaust hood and put lunch on. By then Martha and the Doctor had explored an empty prisoner spaceship, found out it was not as empty as the ships sensors had them believe, found a forest on it, found trouble (of course, what else?) and saved the day ;-)
I´ll wait until I´ve listened to the other two audiobooks until I send them on, but I guess that´s not going to take long... I guess books and sports just have to wait for a bit again ;-)

Afterthought:
I just read the other journals: the story reminded me a bit of "silence in the library" which is one of my favourit episodes, but more strongly of "the time of angels"/"Flesh and stone" (well Dr. or Prof. River Song is in all three episodes so not that much of a difference) - propably due to the forest and the creepy feeling.
The person reading was doing a great job! I didn´t realise it was the woman acting as Marthas mother in the TV series... (yep, didn´t like her in the TV episodes - obviously, since she didn´t like the Doctor). The Doctor more reminded me of the 11th than the 10th Doctor (propably due to the fact, that I have seen that Doctor more recently, hard to turn a swith over in your head and think 10th Doctor now!).

Really good audiobook. Great adventure with a good balance of suspence, creepiness, fun and food for thought. I really liked the combination of the pre-industrial setting of the village and the space-age tech in the starship.

Darf bald weiterreisen. :)
