This book was mooched (on BookMooch.com) on April 17, 2011. I promptly put it on my bookshelf's seemingly endless "To Read" section and promptly forgot that, when I received it from BookMooch, I realized that the sender had also registered it here! Then today, when I pulled the book down to read, I saw the BookCrossing label on the inside cover (The "Take me to your reader" alien one) and logged on here to finally register it! I have read the first two books in this series, which I loved - so charming!
I’m liking each book in this series better than I liked the former! The part about Mr. Matekoni’s strange withdrawal from both his business and life hit home for me, but I was glad to read about this prevalent issue – depression – being discussed. And it was more interesting to see it investigated by Mrs. Ramoswe, who didn’t know anything about it, and was glad to see that their doctor was able to advise on it, and that even their tiny village’s bookstore carried a book on the subject! But what I really enjoyed reading about was Grace Makutsi, Precious’ secretary, rolling up her sleeves and not only straightening out Mr. Matekoni’s disorganized office, but his two lazy apprentices – who are so shocked by this take-charge lady that they in turn step up their game! The garage’s business is then busier than ever! While I did miss reading about the couple’s new children – especially the wheelchair-bound girl who shows a keen interest in automotive mechanics (you can see where this storyline will go later on in the series) – but they were all but absent from this one, instead replaced with a story of a lost little boy who smells like lions! Not so mysterious after all. In any case, I loved this, as I’ve loved the previous ones, and as I’m sure I’ll love all the sequels to come.
