I really wanted to love this book but I didn't like any of the characters. The atmosphere and writing are beautiful, but this book didn't blow me away. The religious themes were very confusing to me and overall this book was not my cup of tea.

This is a reread for me. I had seen the PBS Masterpiece presentation years ago and then read the book at that time. I have reread the story a couple of times since then and always enjoy the writing.
