The hype was right! I really enjoyed this book. I loved Martel's style of writing and (Pi's) inner dialogue throughout the story. I suppose without it, there wouldn't be a story but it was always engaging and often quite humourous. I was surprised by how many tidbits I learned while reading. There was a great mix of science and spirituality which, I think, was Martel's purpose. I won't say anything about the ending except that I thought it was good and satisfying. (My boyfriend didn't, though. he said it was a "copout".) I would recommend this book to so many people and I hope all who read it after me like it too!

I hated this book! I'm not a big fan of alot of narrative and this book definitely has lots! I didn't even finish it, I ended up calling my mother who's already read it and asking her how it ends. I have mailed this to another bookcrosser who accepted it off of Casual Reader's Book Relay site.

I loved this book. I feel like I have been tossed about on the sea. And when the story went from what I thought it was to what I didn't want it to be and then changed again, I really appreciated the gift this writer has. And I loved his wordplay.

"midway to Midway"
"nose job on a rhino"

So glad I finally had a chance to read it. Sending it along.
