From amazon.com:
The vampire novel that started it all, Bram Stoker's Dracula probes deeply into human identity, sanity, and the dark corners of Victorian sexuality and desire. When Jonathan Harker visits Transylvania to help Count Dracula purchase a London house, he makes horrifying discoveries about his client. Soon afterward, disturbing incidents unfold in England-an unmanned ship is wrecked at Whitby, strange puncture marks appear on a young woman's neck, and a lunatic asylum inmate raves about the imminent arrival of his "Master"-culminating in a battle of wits between the sinister Count and a determined group of adversaries.

This was a re-read of this classic tale and the difference between reading as a young woman and now at middle age made for some interesting comparisons. I seemed to catch more of the eroticism this time around and I appreciated the atmosphere much better. Of course, it's always better to read a book when it's not something "required" of you LOL

releasing to Neuilly once I've read it.

I got the book today! I'm very excited. I'm really interested to see how it matches up with the play and movies I've seen. I've just started a book however and finals are only a few weeks away so it may be a bit before I get a chance to read it. *sigh*

Sending of to zzz. I can't believe I held on to this for so long, sorry! The book was good. I originally wanted to read it because I worked on the play version of it (doing sets) and I was curious as to how much it differed from the book. I've also seen the most recent film version. Neither are wholly accurate but the basic themes and emotions come across well...although the sexual undertones are more overt in the play and movie since they're more modern. I liked the setup of the book: a combination of journal entries and newspaper clippings. The story itself is intriguing, even if I knew what was going to happen. The only thing I didn't like was that most of the characters were just a little too perfect. They were all the perfect examples of kindness and self-sacrifice. They didn't really have any fauly. My favorite character ended up being Renfield just because he was unique and the cookie cutter characters that the others seemed to be. He was a wonderful creation, and I loved every entry that cenetered around him. It was a good read and I'm glad I was finally able to get to it. And now I get to share it!

This is Bram Stoker!

Arrived today "safe and sound" and it's going on my tbr pile. I must say that I'm not sure when I'll start reading because I'm in the middle of one of the greatest chaos in my life (but such a positive chaos!!!). Because if this if anyone terribly wishes to read this book and cannot wait me to finish it I'll gladly loan it 'till the end of this storm!
Thank you very much for sharing!

and this is Vlad Tepes, Bram Stoker's inspiration for Dracula!
