8 out of 10

This book rocked my world when it was first released in 1986 - the first of a flood of "dirty realism" books from young America.

Now almost 20 years later, I don't think I could even read it again, but I remember how much I enjoyed it when it first entered my orbit.

I have already been the beneficiary of Girltiger's generosity so I felt a little sheepish going hunting for her books. I'm pleased I did though because I scored three books and they all actually plan to pick up Less Than Zero but I started reading the first page and it grabbed my attention. I'm now halfway through it and enjoying it very much. I wouldn't exactly say it's 'rocking my world' but it's a good read so far. I will release when I'm done.

8 out of 10

This was a very easy read. It's a gritty and realistic novel about LA teenagers in the 80s getting high and hanging out. I didn't actually realise it was set nearly 20 years ago until halfway through the book when they started talking about New Wave music. This isn't my favourite type of book but the writing sucked me in and held me until the end.
