This is such an amazing book. Pullman is an excellent storyteller who has created a wonderful world.

From the back cover:
Lyra Belacqua is content to run wild among the scholars of Jordan College, with her daemon familiar always by her side. But the arrival of her fearsome uncle, Lord Asriel, draws her to the heart of a terrible struggle--a struggle bord of Gobblers and stolen children, witch clans and armored bears. And as she hurtles toward danger in the cold far North, young Lyra never suspects the shocking truth: she alone is destined to win, or to lose, this more-than-mortal battle.

I caught the book from karendawn. Thanks karendawn. It was very entertaining and an easy read. I had a hard time putting it down. Looks like I will be buying the next two tomorrow. I will be releasing it to Dallas Texas in a couple of days.

My daughter sent the book to me because we share favorite books with each other. I am almost half way through the book and I like it very much. I intend to release it to the wild gently to a friend.
