Dear Reader

Welcome to BookCrossing and thanks for being a part of World Book Night 2011, the largest book giveaway in history. 1,000,000 specially printed copies of 25 different books changed hands on March 5th 2011 and began their journey from reader to reader. This book is one of them. World Book Night has joined with BookCrossing to help track these books as they travel. You can be a part of that journey by making a comment in the book's journal here on BookCrossing. Your journal entry can say how you got the book, what you thought of it, your plans for it or whatever else you might like to add.

On BookCrossing you may choose to remain anonymous or join (it's free). If you join, you’ll be alerted by e-mail each time someone makes another journal entry for this specific copy of this book (other copies of the book are travelling with their own ID number. Every copy of every book has a unique ID). It’s all confidential (you’re known only by your screen name and no one is ever given your e-mail address) and spam-free.

Thanks in advance for being part of World Book Night and BookCrossing. And happy reading and sharing.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

This book is being released via BookCrossing on 5 March 2011 as part of the inaugural World Book Night. With the full support of the Publishers Association, the Booksellers Association, the Independent Publishers Guild, the Reading Agency with libraries, World Book Day and the BBC, one million books will be given away by an army of passionate readers to members of the public across the UK and Ireland.

Read and release!

This is one of 48 copies of this book that World Book Night organizers have kindly given me to pass on to others.

Whether or not giving out books for free is a good idea has proved a contentious matter, but what I can say is that this Bookcrossing activity, which encourages the sharing of books, has fermented my appetite for reading and I've ended up yes, sharing more, but also buying more, and loving the reading.

I chose this book as I recently read it (thanks to someone offering to share their copy via this website) and enjoyed it. Leading up to it, three different people had suggested to me that I might enjoy it. And they weren't wrong. There are strange resonances with my own life (I too met my love in Edinburgh going on 20 years ago!) though thankfully a lot of differences too!

I hope you enjoy it and pass it on to someone else whenever you finish it.

This one's off on a journey overseas! Given to ApoloniaX over a very pleasant drink at the Camel & Artichoke on Lower Marsh.

Thanks a lot! And it was so nice to meet you!
As I said, it's not really my kind of book or genre, but I heard so much about it, so I'll give it a try...

This was pretty much what I expected - after having heard so much about it. It's well written, very entertaining, but not shallow, both funny and sad, a brilliant concept - the reason behind the date of July 15 just blew me away, nothing I expected at the beginning (but no more about this, no spoilers here). Simply the kind of book that will appeal to many 40-somethings, there's just SO much that one can releate to... all those cultural references, the stages in life most of us have been through. Recommendable! (Thanks again, ETMadrid!)

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

I admit it isn't exactly a Halloween book, but it's on the wishlist of my secret partner, of this year's Halloween Exchange. Travelling to the Netherlands now along with a scary rat and a few little goodies. Enjoy!

Thank you so much ApoloniaX for the wishlist book and all the other lovely goodies! (Peter the leseratte, chocolate, crisps, a ballycumber brooch, an orange Kew garden pencil, a nice card and some very cool Halloween napkins). This book was actually hidden inside a Halloween (scary novel) cover haha (it was a nice surprise ^-^). I've heard lots of good things about this book, so I'm quite curious about it..
