I thoroughly enjoyed and would highly recommend this book to everyone, male and female and any age group. It is a love story told in a very unique way, with lots of twists and turns. It kept me guessing till the end, as I didn't know how it was going to turn out. It was surprising how many emotions it evoked in me. Simply, it follows the story of Em and Dex, as we catch up with them on the same day, every year, for 20 years. A unique way of telling a story I thought.

I will be handing out my 48 books in a pub in Milton Keynes on World Book Night.

ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I absolutely loved this Catherine, thank you so much for passing it onto me :o)

I was absolutely hooked from around 50 pages in when I actually let out a big 'aaaahhhhh' & the story got me making other emotional noises all the way through! It was a really interesting way to tell a story of friendship & love spanning 2 decades. I loved the characters of Em & Dex and enjoyed the political & social references attached to the time frame. As well as being engrossing & moving its a really funny story.

Highly recommended.

I enjoyed this, but perhaps didn't engage with it emotionally quite as much as other readers!! I thought that the two main characters were very well drawn and very real. I liked Em but sometimes her lack of confidence was infuriating - probably because its something I recognise in myself! Dex however was a total sh*t and although I know there are people like him in the world I found him very hard to like and have any empathy for him even at the times when our hearts were deliberately being tugged.

Positively there was a lot of humour and some great minor characters and the cultural references were fun, although perhaps I needed to be 10 years younger to really get it!!

The 'One Day' idea is clever although the notion that something significant might happen in the lives of two people on the same date for 20 years is not terribly likely when you think about it.
