This trilogy has to be my all time favorite at the moment. The world is rich and detailed without being given in pages of exposition - it's a living, breathing place that's interwoven through the entire story. The culture is rich, incredibly intricate, and highly structured. The characters are complex and Mara is probably one of my ultimate heroines. While this is a Rift War trilogy, it's from the otherside of the rift War, and gives a new perspective. This is my number one recommendation for trilogies/series for fantasy readers. Books: Daughter of the Empire Servant of the Empire Mistress of the Empire
