Journal Entry 1 by domynoe from Lawrenceville, Georgia USA on Sunday, August 17, 2003
This book is up for trade or free to a good home. The author has a wonderful culture, but - for me - her constant explaining that culture in pages and pages of exposition really interferred with any enjoyment of the story. The S&M elements were a bit much for me as well. This is an adult book with adult content and should not be read by children. Many people have said they truly enjoyed this book, but I struggled to get as far as I did. I just could not finish it.

Journal Entry 5 by First-Noel from San Antonio, Texas USA on Tuesday, September 30, 2003
I really enjoyed this book. I don't usually get into the fantasy, other worlds type books. But for what it's worth this one caught my attention. And kept it, usually I can finish a book in a day or two, this took me a good two weeks. You're right though, domynoe, it does get a little to politic-y quit often. I found myself skimming those parts. I likened it to reading the book of Genesis sometimes. Abbott begat Costello begat Curly and Moe...... I've already bought the second novel and will start on that soon. Kushiel's Chosen actually sounds more exciting than the first. Hopefully it won't take as long to get through.
