Thank you, WBN! I'm delighted to be a Giver for the first World Book Night - and I'm especially pleased to be giving out copies of Dissolution, one of the best books I've read in recent years!
Dissolution is the first of a series of historical mystery novels featuring the Tudor lawyer Matthew Shardlake. If you enjoy this one, then you can follow his further adventures in Dark Fire, Sovereign, Revelation and Heartstone!
C J Sansom is an amazing writer who brings the past to life. Through reading this, I now know far more about Henry VIII and the dissolution of the monasteries than I ever understood when I was in school. Because he has a background as a historian, I feel I can trust his research and his detailed knowledge.
But this isn't a history book. It's a thrilling, page-turning mystery which I couldn't put down once I'd started it.
Thanks again, WBN! I'm grateful for this opportunity to give away 48 copies to new readers - they go out with my strongest recommendation!

A fascinating historical novel with some excellent characters, historical background which was most revealing about its time and many twists and turns leading to the shocking ending. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to read it and now to pass it on to a friend.

I enjoyed this book very much but it took a while to get into it. A very unexpected ending.

An enjoyable story set in the past at an interesting time of English history. A fascinating 'thriller' with an unusually in triguing main character

An intriguing story set in a difficult period of history which I thoroughly enjoyed . The main character really became fascinating.
