I didn't like this as much as The Illustrated Man or The Martian Chronicles, but there were some good stories.

This is a library discard. I will be sending it to Shadowraven for the classroom.

Journal Entry 3 by Shadowraven at Palmdale High School in Palmdale, California USA on Thursday, August 28, 2003
Release planned for Tuesday, September 02, 2003 at Palmdale High School, Mrs. Bell's Room in Palmdale, California USA.

Being released on the Bookcrossing Table in Room 543. Received as a RABK. I am ecstatic to have such a large number of donations being sent to my classroom in time for the opening of school. It is one of 53 that is ready for students to pick up and read starting the very first day of school.

Journal Entry 4 by Shadowraven from Palmdale, California USA on Wednesday, June 16, 2004
I read "Night Train to Babylon" and "End of Summer." I found both of them to be pointless. So one guy who knows a card trick gets kicked off a train. And a teacher frolics around the neighborhood the last night of summer before school resumes. Didn't seem to be much character development, let alone interesting story.

Released on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at SENT TO FELLOW BOOKCROSSER in RABCK, postal release USA.

This was sent to my classroom as a RABK. School has ended and I cleaned up the Bookcrossing table and took the extras home with the intent of returning the favor by sending them off as RABKs. Sent from my post office this morning to the First Annual Teen Bookcrossing Party at the Kansas City Central Library.

I actually liked the story "End of Summer" that BCer shadowraven talked about. I thought there was something magical permeating the night air in the story. I didn't enjoy the card train story that Shadowraven talked about. It was kind of hard to follow because it wasn't interesting.

I finished reading this about two weeks ago, so it’s kind of hard to review it now. Let’s see. A lot of stories let me down, in that they emulated life, and life can be a let down sometimes. Kind of like, “aw man, why did that have to happen?”

Overall, I enjoyed the reads and I felt like there was a lot of symbolism and underlying themes in these short stories. My feelings were confirmed when I read the afterward that describes a muse dream Bradbury had while writing these stories. You really have to read the afterward because it pulls all the stories together.

House Divided was kind of interesting. It’s about a young boy’s sexual awakening. I couldn’t help but look at the story on a symbolic level as an artistic awakening or a life reawakening. I can see how some people might get offended reading the story, but if one is offended I think they are missing the point.

Well that’s all I have to say.

I’d like to start a bookray with this one.
