‘Case Histories’ is my choice of book to give away on World Book Night 2011. It is the first of Kate Atkinson’s books to include Jackson Brodie and is a great introduction to her crime novels. It is set in two eras, a decade apart, and neatly flicks between the two to really engage the reader and create a believable mystery and intrigue. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and will then pass it on to other people who will also enjoy it.

If you are interested in the other Kate Atkinson books which include returning characters from this book, they are (in order): ‘One Good Turn’, ‘When Will There Be Good News’ and ‘Started Early, Took My Dog’. They are all highly recommended too.

Happy reading!

Received from my sister on a lovely visit to Bradford. She has highly recommended Kate Atkinson, so looking forward to seeing if we have the same tastes :) Added to my massive TBR pile. Thanks very much bradgirl and World Book Night.

Stayed up a bit late last night finishing this book :) I wasn't really into it at the beginning, as I just couldn't connect with the main character, Jackson Brodie, and although I still didn't really care much about him at the end, the other characters felt more important to me. I liked the switching between the characters, I always like it when that happens, and I also enjoyed the slow development of the different stories. Would probably read another Kate Atkinson, but I woudn't say she was a favourite of mine. Thanks again, bradgirl. Reserved for my dad.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

It took some time but when I finally got around to reading this I couldn't put it down. I am not sure what will happen now as there is a very good chance that a non-English speaker will pick it up. Hopefully you will give it a good home. I will read some more Kate Atkinson
