Arrived safely in NJ today. Thank you so much, BethanieKay, for sharing this with me. While I read this a number of years ago and gave away my copy to a [hopefully] future BCer. I'm really looking forward to reading it again, as she never fails to make me laugh. I need that right now. I promise to keep it moving along quickly as an author this good, I can't let it sit on my shelf.

First, thank you BethanieKay for sharing this with me.

I find it hard to control my laughter as I read Notaro. It doesn't matter where I am reading, the uncontrollable laughter errupts like a volcano. I also find it hard to stop reading her books in anything more than one sitting.

Its like sitting down with a friend and letting her talk with you over a glass of wine. She tells you a story with honesty and even if it means...well, um, telling you that she had a cold when meeting a new boss and blew bubble out her nose! LOL. Or her comments regarding Costco's samples and the lines therein. LOL.

She says alot that I only dare think or sometimes mumble. She reminds me of a true NYer, so I can't help but love her.

Decisions....save for a bookbox or share with a friend...hum...we shall find out shortly! Marking reserved for now!

(If you love Notaro, try Jen Lancaster.)

Caught for my bookbox: Virtual Biography/Auto-Biography/Humor Bookbox.

Book Description:

Fans of Notaro's chronicles of the idiosyncrasies of her life as a 20-something (The Idiot Girls' Action-Adventure Club) and new wife (Autobiography of a Fat Bride) will cheer the arrival of this collection of all-new material updating them on the meticulously analyzed exploits of Notaro's mid-30s. Among these navel-gazing essays are the story of how, one day when Notaro had a cold, she blew bubbles out her nose upon meeting a new boss; a repetitive whine about the specific types of spam e-mail her sister sends her; details of her passing of some kidney stones; and even quotations from a "sucky" review of one of her books from Kirkus Reviews. No event is too inconsequential for Notaro to recount at length; no relative, friend, or acquaintance too insignificant, and yet reading this entire collection front to back won't leave readers with a single memorable character or episode. Notaro is at her best when she broadens her horizons beyond the quotidian mishaps of modern life and sets herself apart from her corporate colleagues (during a brief stint as a newspaper columnist) and the baby contagion luring her friends, one by one, to the perils of motherhood (she is 30-something, after all).

My Review: Hilarious book! My favorite chapter was about The Sims game. I laughed out loud. My daughter kept asking me, "What are you laughing about?"

Laurie Notaro is the female David Sedaris, I love his books too. Another author similar to Laurie is Jen Lancaster.

Here is the copy that I read: I Love Everybody.
