Journal Entry 1 by Rendiru from Carmichael, California USA on Saturday, August 02, 2003
My husband and I (both introverts) read this book and found it interesting. If you already know you are an introvert, there probably won't be a lot of surprises in store for you in this book, although you may find some useful insights. What it offered me were some explanations of why I react the way I do in certain situations and how to prepare myself for outings that typically wear me out. After reading this, I finally understood why my younger son wore me out continuously the first few years of his life (he is middle-of-the-road in temperament, and thus much closer to extroverted in personality than I am) and why he is eager to get out and do things when I just want to escape to my room for some quiet time. I'm offering this as a bookring open to introverts who want to explore this facet of their lives, to extroverts who would like to know more about the other side, and to those who aren't sure where they stand in this spectrum. (So basically, anyone who wants to read the book can ask to join. :-)

Journal Entry 2 by cobaltcat from Fresno, California USA on Sunday, October 19, 2003
I am totally, incredibly embarrassed....I've had this book for ages. Received it, read it, and completely forgot to journal it, and failed to send it off to the next person. In fact, I insisted that I HAD sent it off, when in fact I did not. Can I crawl into my introverted hole even further? Anyway....I loved this book. It explained so many things and I realize that it's OK to be introverted. I always felt like a failure because I didn't feel like I "coped" with the rest of the world the way I thought I should. Now I can relax. I read lots of bits to my boyfriend, an extrovert, and now he's more understanding as to why I don't deal as well as he when it comes to socializing, and is now willing to work out compromises to meet both our needs.

Came in the mail along with "Good Omens" AND I'd planned on reading a bit of the "Museum of Horrors" anthology tonight, oh, well!! Just reading Rendiru's article accompanying the book and I'm laughing at the familiarity of introverts vs. extroverts and I can't wait to dig into this book!!

After a looooong hibernation with this book, I can say it is insightful, informative and an altogether wonderful read. The author gives explanations for why we are the way we are and how we can be comfortable with being introverts while being alongside extroverts. To be sent on to GoryDetails soon!

Journal Entry 6 by GoryDetails from Nashua, New Hampshire USA on Monday, April 12, 2004
As others have said, there weren't many surprises here, but a lot of nods of recognition - and more than a few helpful hints. [I dearly wish this book had been around when I was in high school and college; I could have used a lot of the advice! The bits about preparing ahead of time for periods of intense social activities are especially useful - and are on my to-do list as the BC convention approaches {wry grin}.] The "Caring for Your Introvert" article was also entertaining - and if it gets just one person to refrain from saying "Why so glum? Smile!" at a hapless introvert who's perfectly content, it'll be worth it! I also recognized several symptoms of over-stressed-introvert in my young nephews, so I may pick up a copy of this book for them. Thanks for sharing this! The book will be going out to bkwrm23 in New Jersey next. Enjoy...

OH NO, I just discovered this book piled under the disaster known as our computer desk!! (Actually, my husband discovered it, looking for something else) I don't remember when I got it, probably about 3-4 weeks ago. Will get to it ASAP and send on by the end of this month. Many apologies. Sending a pm to CBCD for addy, so I'll have that as soon as I'm done. ---------------------------------------- Oh goodness, I just read down the journal entries and discovered that I appear to be a black hole for this book....whoops!
