Transmission - Audiobook(CD)

Kind of a crazy story about a computer geek (a virus tester) who lets loose a wicked virus that causes an international communication shutdown.
Into the BigJohnLefty box! - (journal 286-8631337)
Chosen from BigJohnLefty's First CD-Only AudioBookBox.
I agree with BSAChris—this is kind of a crazy story, but I ended up enjoying it anyway. Hari Kunzru did a nice job reading his own story and giving his characters unique voices and accents. This book showed me a new world, new lifestyles, and made me think. It is also another reminder of how dependent we are on computers and how easily our world can be disrupted by a few dancing pixels.
Man grows bored
then redundant,
elbows the internet in the groin.

This lucky little book has become part of Round 22 of iwillrejoice's Audiobook VBB! :)
Wow, I had a whole different idea of what this one was going to be about.... >_>
To be honest, stories that deal with modern day and especially within the US.... bore me to tears, as a general rule. I mean, I know all the kinds of lives that go on here. God knows, people feel the need to facebook and tweet when the so much as have a bowel movement... I just don't care. :P
But the main character is from India and he has a non American mindset and it's fairly well told. So that was a huge saving grace for it. For him, I found this story interesting.
The end was nothing but flush and fairy tale, not even remotely realistic, but I tied that into a stab of fun at Bollywood movies. lol

Arrived yesterday as part of iwillrejoice's Audiobook VBB - even though I forgot to actually ask for it!
I think it's time for this one to move on.
Journal Entry 10 by hyphen8 at Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii USA on Friday, February 12, 2016
Released 8 yrs ago (2/13/2016 UTC) at Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii USA
WILD RELEASE NOTES:
To be released during the Great Aloha Run Expo, February 12-14. We'll see if it gets claimed, or if it comes back home again.
Wild released for AlterEgoZoe's Leap into the Wild Challenge.
(Over the course of three days, I took 6 CD audiobooks, 18 cassette audiobooks, and 45 other books to the Great Aloha Run Health & Fitness Expo and left them at the end of the table in our booth. At the end of the last day, the only things left were 3 of the cassette audiobooks. Now let's see if I get any journal entries!)
~ ~ ~ ~ ~
I'm so glad you've found this book!
Won't you please make a journal entry to let the book's previous readers know that it's safely in your hands? How did you find it? What did you think of it? What are you going to do with it next?
It's now your book, for you to do with as you please: keep it, pass it to a friend, or maybe even leave it where someone else can find it!
If you've ever wondered where your books go after they leave your hands, join BookCrossing and you may find out: you'll be able to follow the further adventures of your books as new readers make journal entries - sometimes from surprisingly far-flung locations.
(Think of it like Where's George for books...or a little like geocaching - you can follow the book's journey every time someone makes a new entry. Some BookCrossers even leave books *in* geocaches!)
