I was talking to an acquaintance (the same one I gave Like the Flowing River to) at lunch one day, and she saw that I was reading The Mermaid and the Minotaur. This got her talking about feminist consciousness-raising groups she'd participated in during the 70s. That was where she discovered Revelations -- I could tell it had made a deep impression on her. I said that I, too, love reading the lives and reflections of women; immediately she decided to give the book to me. I felt a little bad about taking a book that's special to her, but it's a good home for it -- I intend to treasure it.

The diary entries themselves interested me more than the introduction, whose theoretical musings dated quickly, whereas the words of people reflecting on their own lives have a lasting fascination. An excellently diverse selection. Even started with one by a seven-year-old girl.
