Most of my horsy books when I was younger were inherited from my mother and very much reflected the British pony scene. This one stood out because the America it described might've well have been on another planet :) Ranches and wild horsesthat were quite different to the wild and scruffy Moor ponies I was used to :)

Quite a lovely book, and so different from what I was expecting! I don't know why exactly, but I somehow thought the protagonist was going to be a girl, and I didn't expect Flicka to be anything like a wild horse. I liked all the characters and the somewhat poetic style - they made a big difference between this and piles of similar child-meets-horse stories.

Thanks again for sending me this book, Duskdreamer! I may end up keeping this copy, but I'll see about buying one for my private collection instead. I'd really like to have it among my collection of horse novels.

Yes, yesterday I finished reading this book. I saw the movie twice at Christmas-time so the book was quite easy to read. Main character was boy but in movie it was a girl. Anyway, I liked this book a lot and when releasing it I hope that next reader will like this too. Does not matter whether to have seen the movie or not. The movie has the same name as the book by the way.
So I keep this in my bookshelf, waiting for next meetup so I can release this book then.
