The classic Bradbury novel that everyone should read. Heck, even my wife read it and she doesn't read novels very often. Enjoy.

At the request of a fellow BookCrosser, today I mailed this book to Tehran, Iran. In the interest of world peace, of course. I hope it is enjoyed.

Thanks a lot for sending the book. :)
I have heard a great deal about it, so I'm surely going to enjoy it.
THANK YOU ! :)

Burning books ! I don't think the world will become like this... I'd better say that I HOPE we won't become like this.
Children hating parents, fire men burning books, people talking to walls ! Oh... it's so hopeless. :(
Not considering all the "sorrowful" things, I liked it.
Thank you so much "I-Am-A-Bookworm" for sending me the book. :) I truly enjoyed it.

Another excellent tale by Bradbury. I had seen the movie years ago but had never read the novel. Many thanks to airyaa and I-Am-A-Bookworm for their freeing this for me to read. I am going to reserve this for a bookring.

Journal Entry 7 by jamieh2003 from Wiley Ford, West Virginia USA on Friday, July 16, 2004
This is now a bookring. Below are the interested parties.

I decided to make some ground rules for future rays and rings given the fact that my many of my original ones appear to be "stuck" in never-never land.
Step 1: Journal the book as soon as you receive it.
Step 2: Either make a new journal entry with your impression of the book or edit the previous one.
Step 3: Make a release note under controlled releases n/a, n/a, n/a when you are preparing to mail it on to the next in line.

Please if you cannot get it read and mailed within 30 days of the time you receive the book, pass it on to the next in line.

As for shipping: Media Mail is fine in the U.S. and Surface for Overseas shipping.

Journal Entry 10 by Amber101 from Pasco, Washington USA on Sunday, August 15, 2004
I had just read a little news item before I sat down with this book on the upcoming new movie version. Mel Gibson will play Guy Montag so of course the whole time I was reading it I envisioned Mel!

I read this book way back in high school. I am so glad I signed up for this bookring and read it again. It was just as good as I remembered it, but it also meant more to me this time around.

Really this book isn't so radical or unbelievable as you and I would like to think. A recent survey conducted by the NEA (You can find the survey on my bookshelf and write the NEA for a free copy.) shows the downward trend in literary reading amongst all age groups in this country. I thought about this survey and the rise of so-called reality TV programs. It sounds as if we are slowly creating the conditions needed to bring about this future of book burning and banning.

Highly recommended!

~Amber

I have been a horribly irresponsible Bookcrosser. I had my baby boy in late August, but I can only blame the busyness that comes with a first child so far... the rest is just me letting it sit on my table without even reading it. I've now emailed the next person in the ring and am going to get this out in the mail as soon as I hear back. I apologize immensely for the delay!

I loved this book! Guy made such wonderful changes in his life, and his story was inspiring. It was also scary, when thinking how the book did resemble oor own world in some ways. I also enjoyed the afterward, which I usually just peruse when I've finished a book. Both the story and the author really impressed me. I apologize for holding this book way too long. There's no excuse, just an apology! I never got a response from adah-price, so I'm sending it on to Becfrom MD tomorrow. Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful book, and it's on the move again!

This was quick! It was waiting for me when I got home yesterday, I just didn't have the energy to open my computer. I can't wait to read this, but I have another ring before this one, so it might take few weeks.

Journal Entry 22 by RoryG from Bluemont, Virginia USA on Saturday, July 8, 2006
I loved this book. I definitely need to get my own copy as well. Thanks jamieh2003 for organizing the ring! I love to read about what would happen to different kind of people in alternate universe. What I really liked in this book was that despite the grim look of the society, there was a ray of hope. There were people who remembered and wanted more than to be "happy". And I liked the way not thinking unpleasant things didn't mean that people actually were happy. Instead they were jumping off buildings and stuff.

This was an interesting story about one man's raise of awareness and learning that there was more to life than he had thought. There was one thing about the book that bothered me. That there were so few women among the "wise". But maybe this was due to the different mindset of the 50s when the book was written. I mean there was Clarisse, but she was a young girl and she died, so I don't really count her. But putting that aside, this was one of the best books I've ever read and will go to my favorite list.

The book will continue its journey when I get the next person's address. I'm going on a holiday for two weeks and I hope to mail this before that, but if I can't it might take a bit longer than usual.

Edit: Kislany already has the book and asked to be skipped. I'm contacting the next one on the list.

Edit 27.7.2006: I've been on a vacation for 2 weeks and haven't had a chance to get to internet. I try to contact simietta again and if she doesn't answer I'll ask the next person's address.

Edit 1.8.2006: I've tried to contact simietta for awhile and since she hasn't answered and it looks like on her shelf that she isn't very active member at the moment, I'm contacting the next person on the list.

Edit 7.8.2006: Got buchsuch's address and will mail the book tomorrow or wednesday the latest.

I haven't read this yet, but I've picked up a copy for myself very cheap. jamieh2003 doesn't want this back, so it will be heading off into the world - there's plenty of requests for it on the wish lists so I'll be hunting for a taker.

Journal Entry 27 by Teacher-Trudy from Rockhampton, Queensland Australia on Friday, March 30, 2007
Received in the mail this week from Tantan. The book is listed on the Bookcrossing Top 100 which is how it came to be on my wish list. With many thanks!

Journal Entry 28 by Teacher-Trudy from Rockhampton, Queensland Australia on Saturday, April 24, 2010
I read this while on sick leave recently. While I found the start of the book a little confusing I stuck with it and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing it with me. I will be taking it to my next book club get together.
