A wishlist book from gh-hir, a wishlist book from gh-hir, AND some chocolate!

I don't know anything about this book, really, except that it started to appear on lots of people's wishlists (or was it that BCers were raving about it... or both?) and I wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Thank you, ghir, for satisfying my curiosity, and for lying about what would happen if I wrote a blog post with the subject-line "CHOCOLATE"! :)

Brought this away with me on holiday but so far have not gotten into it. Instead I've finally been convinced to read the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo despite the violence, and then settled into a Discworld novel (Going Postal).

Let's see whether Dragon Tattoo's sequel, this, or the in-flight entertainment system wins out on the flight home.

It took me AGES to get into this book. Once I did, I was hooked, but it took a long time to adjust to Moore's style, sense of humor, and "key" (as Dell Hymes might put it). So it was probably good to take it travelling, since I was tempted to pick it up over and over again and read another few pages... until suddenly Moore and I were on the same wavelength.

That said, I did laugh out loud already on the second page of the first chapter: What's a Mennonite? --Amish with blenders.

I slipped it into Mr P's carryon last week for a trip he was making, but he worked on his laptop all through the flight and even the train ride. So now it's back with me for a bit.

Thanks again, ghir!
